Why Do You Need A Special Paint For Kitchen And Bathrooms?

So, you've decided that your Kitchen is looking a little bit tired and needs a revamp. You've got a bit of cash saved up and a weekend spare.

How do you know what types of kitchen paint to use – and do they need to be specialist paints? Is it better just to ask the professionals?

Rooms in which water spills are common, such as kitchens and bathrooms, often require different types of paint to ensure water droplets don't stain your walls.

Are there different types of paint?

Larry Schnadig, a painter and decorator from Los Angeles, says: "You can buy paints just for the kitchen and bathroom. People can buy these from DIY shops. If you have a painter or decorator, they may be able to buy the paints for you."

Can anyone apply these paints?

To the layman, paint is paint. But some require more care and attention when applying than others.

Larry says: "These paints can sometimes be hard to apply unless they are applied by a professional painter and decorator.

"A professional painter and decorator can know what different techniques to use to get a good finish."

What happens if you don't use specialist paint for the bathroom and kitchen?

Larry  says: "If you don't use a paint specifically for the kitchen and bathroom in the kitchen and bathroom and you splash water on the walls, because the paint is porous, the water can soak in and you can get marks on the walls.

"But, with paint specifically for the kitchen and bathroom, if water gets splashed on the walls, the water can just wipe off and doesn't tend to leave a mark."
